What Remained

What Remained selected for “Harvest” by 34 Gallery

I’m very happy to share that my artwork What Remained has been selected for Harvest, an open call by 34 Gallery.

The theme explored harvest not only in the traditional sense, but also as the end of a season in life - what we gather from it, what we lose, and what remains with us when that season is over.

That was exactly what drew me to the idea behind What Remained.

The image shows a figure crossing an almost empty field, carrying a basket that is nearly bare. Inside it, though, one small light remains.

For me, that light became the heart of the piece.

Not every season gives us what we hoped for. Sometimes we put a lot into something and still end up with much less than we expected. But that does not always mean that season was for nothing.

What remains can be a memory, something we learned, a part of ourselves we discovered, or simply the hope that there is still something ahead.

I wanted the work to feel a little melancholy, but never hopeless. The field may be empty and the season may be over, but the figure is still moving forward - and she is not completely empty-handed.

Sometimes the harvest is not about how much we gathered.

Sometimes it is about what remained.

I’m really pleased that this piece found a place in Harvest, and grateful to 34 Gallery for selecting it.
